NSN - Connection number, old number for xDSL orders
In order to activate a new subscription on an existing xDSL installation, we need the NSN (National Service Number) connection number of your current subscription. This information is usually available on your previous provider's xDSL datasheet, or you can request it directly from them. Your previous provider is legally obliged to provide you with this NSN number. See the legal text below.
Without this NSN connection number, the line will have to be completely transferred, which will require the intervention of an installer for a new activation. Please note that the costs associated with this intervention are not included in your subscription.
WHAT THE LAW SAYS: NSN NUMBERS AND SIP IDENTIFIERS
The provision of essential information, such as NSN numbers and SIP identifiers, is governed by Swiss regulations. Here are the reference texts:
Article 7, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the OST (Ordinance on Telecommunications Services)
Telecommunications service providers must publish the technical specifications of the interfaces required for access to telecommunications networks and, on request, provide customers free of charge with the technical information needed to use the services provided.
Article 2.2.2 of Annex 1.4 to the OFCOM Order of 9 December 1997
"Providers must provide customers, on request, within a reasonable time and free of charge, with the identification characters and access data necessary for access to telecommunications networks and use of the services. [...] The obligation to provide information concerns the necessary individual information, justified in the context of the relationship with the customer, relating to connection to the telecommunications network and use of the services. This includes designations that enable a line to be identified in the event of a change of provider (e.g. OTO number for FTTH and NSN number for xDSL connections), as well as connection data to a server in order to use services (e.g. SIP identifiers for VoIP telephony)."
