Speed Test

To correctly measure the bandwidth of your Internet connection, we recommend using a well-configured computer connected directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. It is not advisable to carry out these speed tests via a Wi-Fi connection, as the results may be distorted by interference or other external factors.

Performing a Speedtest :

You can carry out a speed test at the following link:

speedtest.net

For more accurate results, we recommend that you install the dedicated application:

Speedtest application for desktop

If the bandwidth measured is close to that of your subscription, your connection is working properly. If the results are significantly lower than expected, this may indicate a connection problem.

If this is the case, please contact us:

Telephone: 058 521 32 00
E-mail: hello@maxiconnect.ch (please attach the results of your speed tests).

Potential problems with DSL connections:

In the case of a DSL connection, it is possible that the bandwidth is reduced for several reasons, such as :

  • Obsolete installation: The cables between the distribution box and your wall socket may be damaged or too old. If this is the case, we recommend that you have these cables checked by an electrician.
  • Distance from the control centre: If your home is a long way from the local control centre, this may also reduce the speed of the connection.
  • Profile or DSL connection: The problem may also be due to the configuration of the profile or the DSL connection itself, which would require a thorough check.

Important note:

If you have a subscription that should exceed 100 Mbit/s, but you never get more than 100 Mbit/s, it may be that one of the components of your network does not support a speed of 1 Gbit/s. This could be due to :

  • Ethernet cable: Make sure your Ethernet cable is Cat. 5e or higher, as Cat. 5 cables only support speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s.
  • Router or switch interface: Check that your router or switch interface supports and is configured to operate at 1 Gbit/s.
  • PC or laptop interface: Some network cards, even on recent PCs or laptops, only support speeds of 100 Mbit/s. Make sure your network card is compatible with 1 Gbit/s and properly configured.

Fibre-optic connections :

For fibre-optic connections, you can also take a measurement directly at the fibre converter. If you are using a 1 Gbit/s network card and a good quality network cable, but the results of your speed test are much lower than expected, please contact us so that we can check your line.
