MaxiTV does not work with a VPN
If you are using a VPN (such as NordVPN or any similar service) and MaxiTV displays an error message such as:
« Network problem — It is not possible to stream from this network »
this is expected behaviour. Here is why.
Why does MaxiTV block VPNs?
MaxiTV uses a geoblocking system that detects and blocks connections via VPNs, proxies or anonymisation services.
This requirement stems from broadcast licence agreements: channel broadcasting rights are restricted to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. MaxiTV is therefore contractually obliged to reject any streaming request coming from a non-Swiss IP address or one masked by a VPN.
Solution
Disable your VPN before using MaxiTV.
If you are abroad (on holiday or a business trip), MaxiTV unfortunately cannot be used — even with a Swiss VPN — due to these licence restrictions.
