BX/AON and XGS-PON Fibre — How does it work?
Whether you have a BX/AON line (GPON, active network) or XGS-PON (10G symmetrical), the Fritz!Box configuration is identical: direct DHCP connection, no PPPoE login, no username or password required.
The Fritz!Box must be connected directly to the optical device (ONT) provided by the fibre installer, via a fibre optic cable (fibre port).
Important: MaxiConnect lines are generally connected to plug 2 of the wall-mounted fibre optic socket.
Step 1 — Access the Fritz!Box interface
Log in to your Fritz!Box administration interface from a browser:

Step 2 — Configure the Internet connection
- Go to Internet → Account Information
- In the Internet Connection tab, select:

- Click Apply
Step 3 — DNS settings (optional)
By default, the Fritz!Box uses DNS servers provided automatically via DHCP. You can leave them as-is or enter custom servers:
Internet → Account Information → DNS Servers

Step 4 — Enable IPv6
- Go to Internet → Account Information → IPv6 tab
- Enable IPv6 connection and IPv6 router
- Select DHCPv6 for prefix assignment
- Click Apply
Step 5 — Verify the connection
- Go to Overview (home page of the interface)
- Check that the Internet status shows Connected
- The WAN IP address should be automatically assigned
If the connection is not established after 2–3 minutes, restart the Fritz!Box via System → Restart.

Connection issues? First check that the fibre optic cable connects the fibre port of the Fritz!Box to the optical device (ONT).
