“Why don’t you run special offers?” “Why not -50% for 6 months like everyone else?”
The answer is simple.
Because we’d rather be fair… than spectacular.
Promotions: a tempting model… on the surface

- Slashed prices for 6 or 12 months
- “Exceptional” deals all year long
- Discounts reserved for new customers
On paper, it looks very attractive. But in reality, it’s often much less straightforward.
The real problem: prices that no longer mean anything
When a subscription is advertised at a price… then immediately reduced by 30%, 50% or more…
Is that really the right price?
In many cases, the base price is deliberately inflated, so that a “promotion” can then be displayed.
In the end:
- The actual price comes very close to our standard rate
- But with more complexity… and more uncertainty
And in the end?
The real question isn’t: “Why don’t you run promotions?”
But rather: “Why do the others run so many?”
Because in reality, their “official” price is often not the real price. These are artificially inflated prices, then “corrected” with permanent promotions:
- -30% today
- -50% tomorrow
- special offer next week
In the end, those discounts bring them… almost to the same level as our rates.
The real question becomes simple: what is the real price? The one shown without a discount? Or the one after a temporary promo?
And there’s also a simple truth: we love promotions
Let’s be honest. Seeing “-50%” always feels good. You feel like you got a great deal. Like you “won” something. Like you outsmarted everyone else.
And that’s exactly why this model works so well.
But in practice?
- The starting price is often inflated
- The promotion becomes almost permanent
- And the “discount” completely loses its meaning
