Why a quality router matters for your internet connection
Fast fibre but sluggish Wi-Fi? Your router is often the weak link. Find out why investing in quality network hardware genuinely transforms your internet experience at home or at work.
You have subscribed to a 1 Gbps fibre plan, but your Wi-Fi seems slow? Your videos buffer, your video calls are unstable, your connection drops occasionally? The problem rarely lies with the operator. It often lies with the router.
The router: the weak link often overlooked
Your operator brings internet to your wall socket at full speed. What you do with that connection afterwards depends entirely on your router.
A poor-quality router can:
- Throttle your connection to a fraction of the available speed
- Create instability with invisible but disruptive micro-interruptions
- Have insufficient Wi-Fi range to cover your flat or house
- Become overloaded quickly when many devices are connected simultaneously
- Present security vulnerabilities with unmaintained firmware

Operator-supplied router vs. your own equipment
The routers provided by large operators are often entry-level devices designed to reduce costs. They work, but rarely optimally.
At MaxiConnect, you can use your own hardware. We provide all the necessary configuration information and our technical team assists you with the setup.
When Wi-Fi is no longer enough
For large spaces or buildings with thick walls, a single router will never be sufficient. Solutions exist:
- Additional access points (Ubiquiti, Fritz! Repeater)
- Mesh systems for uniform coverage
- Network cabling for fixed devices (wired connection is always more stable than Wi-Fi)
